Faces

Boy, it sure is tough staying motivated when Christmas Break is a day away!!

So, in order to keep drawing, I decided to work on expressions, and experiment with eyes, and mouth work.   I think she looks like she'd be a great detective.

And I know you've all been in pun-withdrawal so...
A detective who spent his entire career in plain clothes quit the police force and bought a farm. "What kind of crops do you plan to grow?" the police chief asked the farmer-to-be. "Carrots and potatoes," the man replied. "Why carrots and potatoes?" asked the chief.  "Because," answered the ex-detective, . . . "I'm very fond of undercover crops."   HAR HAR.

HoHoDooDa - December 9th

Kiddo #1 was home with a nasty bug today, so I didn't have a whole lot of time to work on today's HoHoDooDa. Ya get what ya get, and you don't get upset, right?

On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me,
Three French ... chickens?

Sure, why not.  Let them eat cake, I say, (but at least share the cake) ... and a baguette, and have a glass of wine while you're at it!

HoHoDooDa 2013!!

The amazingly talented Linda Silvestri has started the Holiday Doodle a Day (HoHoDooDa) challenge.  And I am picking up the gauntlet!

As Linda says "What with the holidays and all, I admit it’s a little crazy and there may be some gnashing of teeth and tears shed, but overall, I’m sure it will be a blast and very rewarding..."

I'm ready to play along!

On the drawing board ...

Today, I found some time to work on drawings of older kids.   Usually, my kids are younger, and in order to round out my portfolio, my agent suggested some older kids.   Hopefully, I'll be able to add another "older" piece tomorrow.

Guess the Day ... June 27th

Your clues:

Elton John has over a thousand.
Corey Hart wears his only at night.
Tom Cruise popularized an aviation style.

Did you guess?  Today is Sunglasses Day.  (Who comes up with these wacky holidays?)

So, in honor of Sunglasses Day ... an illustration for your viewing pleasure.

Summer = Camping

Summer isn't summer with at least one camping trip!  Our camping trips usually take us into the mountains, and as night falls, it gets chilly.  Few things are nicer than getting cozy by the fire and laughing with friends.

Noisy Noisy

by Jack Prelutsky

It's noisy, noisy overhead,
the birds are winging south,
and every bird is opening
a noisy, noisy mouth.

They fill the air with loud complaint,
they honk and quack and squawk—
they do not feel like flying,
but it's much too far to walk.

Happy Father's Day

Dad,  you've watched me grow up... from that little girl who said "My Daddy's a Piggy" (sorry about that), to the person I am today, and some things will never change... I'll always be your little girl, and I'll always love you.  :)  Happy Father's Day, Dad.  xxxooo

End of the School Year projects

I was asked to come up with DVD covers for our school programs.  Extremely tight deadline.   At first I struggled with how I would capture the essence of each program, but I'm actually pretty happy with how they turned out AND I got them done in time to send them to the printer.   (Yay me!)  I just hope the school is happy with them too.  :)

Postcard Mailing!

Inspired by a discussion with Giuseppe Castellano on Twitter about the importance of postcard mailings, I'm mailing out a new bunch.   I used to be so consistent in my mailings, but I haven't mailed any in a long time. Big thanks to Giuseppe for the nudge in the right direction.   Should have these in hand in a few weeks.

Fingers crossed that they'll turn out nicely!

Here's a preview....

Interview at Wendy Martin Art

Many thanks to Wendy Martin who actually wanted an interview with ME!  She's a great lady, whom I've had the privilege of knowing since our early days at Watercolor Wednesday!

Check out her blog, and her illustrator interviews (I still am in awe of the company I'm in! You can see mine here.)

Hello!!

Hi all!  I know it's been a while since I've posted.  I'm happy to report it's because I've been happily busy.  I'm working on three Reader's Theatre books with Abdo Publishing!  It's been great!!

I can't show what I've been working on yet, but here is a little Valentine hello to make up for it.

Art Show

Was able to squeeze in another doodle before I have to pick up the kids.

On the drawing board...

The kiddos are back at school which leaves time to get some work done.  Unfortunately, my printer ran out of ink, and I am out of w.c.paper.  Drat.  So, instead I'm filling my time with getting some sketching done.  And I love sketching!  Hope you're having an equally fun day.
