Field Day - Sketch 2

Here is a close-up of the three legged race, but after doing this I think I may make this it's own separate image, and now have to think up something to put in the space in the other sketch. Hmmm. I may decide to use these two for my next postcard mailing. I love WW, it so often helps me to come up with ideas for postcard mailings!!

Watercolor Wednesdays - Field Day Sketch

This is an illo I'm working on for Watercolor Wednesdays. The prompt is Field Day, and I'm trying to show various field day activities. This is just the rough sketch. As you may have noticed, I'm still working on adding the three-legged race in the upper right. I also want to add some funnier elements, but haven't figured out what exactly. It'll come to me... This is my favorite stage of the illustration process!

21 day challenge - sketches 1 & 2

I'm doing the 21 day challenge with my friends Ann Marie and Gina. The purpose is to devote at least 15 minutes a day to your art so that it becomes a habit. Many believe that it takes at least 21 days to develop a habit. Of course, the longer you do it, the more ingrained the habit becomes.

I'm going to do the challenge, but I may not be able to post every day, so I'm going to post in clumps. Here is what I've done for the first two days. (I know there is no need to paint, but I wanted to, so there you go).

Illustration Friday - Parade

URGH!! And double URRRRGHHHH!!!

I was really pleased with this sketch. Until it came time to paint it. I get so frustrated with the painting process. You know, you work and work, and get your drawing just right then the whole thing is destroyed by the application of the wrong color, and you have to start all over again. blurgh.

I just didn't feel like starting all over again. So, here is my version of parade. Please excuse the hideous use of color.

Watercolor Wednesdays - Mommies and Babies

Here is my take on the WW prompt "Mommies and Babies." It wasn't that long ago when I was grabbing diaper bags, and stuffies, and shuffling out the door with my baby in the snugglie. It was a little crazy at times, but lots of fun too....

Illustration Friday - Hierarchy

This little pooch still has to learn the hierarchy of Master's slippers vs. Poochie's toys. I'm glad our dog never went through that phase!

Redo of Sketch

After some valuable feedback from my friends at NESCBWI, I reworked the Dad in the background. In the previous sketch, he looked more like a friend than a Dad, so I played around with him a bit. Does it look better, or does it still need some tweaking? And the dock? Is it any better?

IF - Theater - with color

OK, I know that the Illustration Friday prompt is now "hierarchy" (what I'm going to do for that one, I have no idea), but I painted last week's "theater" and wanted to get it up. So, here it is...
